What happens to your #Vienna2020 idea next?

The Vienna Tourist Board has been working on its "Vienna 2020" tourism strategy since 2013. This ideas competition is an integral component of this development process. This is why our international strategy board will immediately start checking out the novelty and feasibility of the ideas you have sent in, and their benefits for visitors to Vienna and local residents alike. The ideas selected by internationally acclaimed experts will be incorporated into the "Vienna 2020" tourism strategy, which will be published in October 2014.

Why did we invite you to take part in the #Vienna2020 ideas competition?

Vienna has been named as the world's most liveable city for the fifth year in succession (MERCER, 2014). A great deal of development work is required if Vienna is to remain so attractive to its visitors and so liveable for its residents. The "Vienna 2020" tourism strategy now under development defines the key direction of thrust required to achieve this. However, this strategy should not be based solely on the knowledge of tourism experts, but also take into account everything which you would like for yourself and for our visitors to Vienna.

This opens up a wealth of themes and issues, such as: "How would I like to travel there? ", "How would I like to be accommodated and move around in the city?", "What would I like to experience?", "What does the city lack for me?", "Which encounters can enrich my travel experience even more?", "How should the city ideally meet my various needs - from food to information?", etc.

We have been pleased to discover new, unusual and unconventional approaches thanks to your ideas, and look forward to working together to make Vienna an even more attractive city for visitors from all over the world by the year 2020.
